
Pakistan High Commissioner and Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber leaders held a meeting on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the SMCCI Conference Hall on Jail Road in the city.
Pakistan High Commissioner to Dhaka Imran Haider, who is visiting Sylhet, held a meeting with the leaders of the Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Pakistan High Commissioner to Dhaka Mr. Imran Haider addressed the meeting as the chief guest under the chairmanship of SMCCI President Mr. Khairul Hossain. Counselor (Political) Mr. Kamran Dhangal, Counselor (Trade and Investment) Mr. Zain Aziz, accompanying the High Commissioner, were present as guests of honor.
SMCCI 1st Vice President Mr. Md. Ferdous Alam delivered the welcome speech at the meeting. SMCCI Vice President Mr. Alimus Sadat Chowdhury, Treasurer Mr. Md. Zahir Hossain, Directors Mr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah, Mr. Dilwar Hossain, Mr. Md. Kaptan Hossain, Mr. Mohammad Anis, Mr. Md. Zillur Rahman Sumon, Members Mr. Shahed Ahmed, Mr. Md. Sabul Mia, Mr. Abdul Quader and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Md. Jahangir Hossain spoke and were present.
On behalf of SMCCI, President Mr. Khairul Hossain presented a letter of thanks to Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider. In addition, the Chamber thanked the Pakistan High Commissioner and members of the delegation and presented floral greetings and presented mementos and gifts.
In his speech as the chief guest, Pakistan High Commissioner Mr. Imran Haider thanked the SMCCI Board of Directors for the hospitality and honor. He said that today’s exchange of views will be used as a stepping stone to establish connections between Bangladesh and Pakistan businessmen. He proposed an initiative to establish connections between the businessmen of the two countries through a B2B meeting between investors of the two regions. He invited the businessmen of Sylhet to visit Pakistan and assured that the Pakistan High Commission would provide all-round cooperation in this regard. He assured of developing relations and cooperation in investment between the businessmen of the two countries. The High Commissioner invited the board of directors and members of SMCCI to visit Pakistan.
In his welcome speech, the 1st Vice President of the Chamber, Mr. Md. Ferdous Alam, said that this exchange of views will open new horizons for Pakistan’s trade and commerce with Sylhet and Bangladesh. He called on Pakistani investors to invest in the potential sectors of Sylhet and sought the active cooperation of the Pakistan High Commission in this regard.
The chamber leaders said in the meeting that mutual cooperation is needed to further strengthen the existing commercial relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan. There are opportunities for foreign investment, especially in the promising industrial, tourism and agro-based sectors of the Sylhet region. To utilize this potential, regular communication and exchange of experience between businessmen of the two countries is necessary. At the time, the leaders called on Pakistani investors to help import and export various Pakistani products with Sylhet and to jointly invest in various sectors including agricultural products, dry food, FMCG products, education, medical care, tourism.
